Join Mitch for two full days of painting, good company and a proper studio weekend — working through the core techniques behind his 'Heatwave' paintings, and moving past hesitation to make confident, intentional marks on the canvas.
By the end of day one, you'll be painting with confidence. By the end of day two, you'll take home a finished work you're proud of.
All levels are welcome — total beginners to practising artists. Everything is provided: professional paints, brushes and canvas, and lunch cooked by Mitch himself, both days.
Serious studio time, at your pace — broken up the way a studio day should be.
When you come to one of Mitch's workshops, you're in good hands. As well as more than 30 years' painting, his foundation is both technical and practical: he studied at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney, added a Masters in Design at the University of Western Sydney, and spent a year in Italy as studio assistant to Markus Lüpertz, then Director of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He also lectured in Visual Arts at the University of Western Sydney — so he knows how to explain a technique, not just perform it.
Outside the studio, the track record speaks for itself. Three decades exhibiting — solo shows in Sydney and Germany, finalist placings in the Mosman and Fleurieu prizes — with work held from the Powerhouse Museum to private collections in a dozen countries.
June, July, August and September all sold out.
