“The Big Swim is literally that. A swimming race from Palm Beach to Whale Beach. Over the years competitors have battled storms, giant surf, sharks and, worst of all they’ll tell you, swarms of bluebottles.

I painted this in my studio at Palm Beach. A mate who usually shot real estate ads (long before drones) used a camera mounted on a remote-control model helicopter. He took a bunch of photos one year and asked if I could use any of them. This was the result.” — Mitch
