It was shoulder to shoulder at my latest opening...

at Project Gallery 90 in Sydney's Paddington.

Mitchell English | opening night | Project Gallery 90

The place was so packed, people could hardly see the art.

Perhaps the Cupitt's wine and the company were too good?

Karen Pakula, a one-time editor of the Sydney Morning Herald, wrote a fantastic forward about my work for the catalogue. Alongside one of my blue bottle paintings, she wrote:

'A lifelong surfer, Mitchell English’s sensibility is undeniably Australian. With a deep suspicion of what he calls “frangipani art”, he often paints idealised pictures with a sting.'

Nailed it.

A big thank you to Cupitt's winery for their sponsorship of the event and to Kate Hopkinson-Pointer.

It's a great space, Katie. Looking forward to showing there again soon.

Thanks, of course, to everyone for coming. And to some of you for buying!

I've got a couple of the works left from the show still available. Contact me for details.

And sign up to my newsletter so we can see you at the next opening!
